"I think therefore I am," said Decartes.
And the Cartesian split was born:
The premise that reason and logic are the superior realm of the mind while the body is merely an object that moves in space at the mind's command.
But of course. Decarte was a dude.
And the Masculine mind tends to decompartmentize from the body for some very good evolutionary reasons.
Yet, the Cartesian split is thought by many to be an element of shadow patriarcy/masculine in the world, disconnecting us from the intelligence of our bodies, our hearts, the hearts of others, and the body of the Earth herself.
And that is especially dangerous for the Feminine.
In the time that I have been a student of somatic practices, I am experiencing a profound shift in my relationship with myself:
I have more self-compassion.
I am more forgiving towards myself.
I feel more of the richness and beauty that is available to me at every moment.
I am more able to calm my upset and anxiety.
I can better stay with my own felt experience in the vicinity of the emotions of others without taking them on.
I am more able to speak my truth without bracing myself against possible resistance. Because its easier for me to stand by it in a non-defensive way.
I feel more relaxed and at peace in the core of my body.
And I more generously give myself pleasurable experiences.
I can more easily enjoy MYSELF,
my own radiance,
my own delight,
my own EROS.
I feel more intimacy with myself.
More self-love.
And, when it comes to doing things that I don't want to do, that are hard, or that I fear, but that I really need to do because they are good for me, I hear a voice inside of me say: "I got this. I won't let you down."
"Our mind is an excellent servant but a terrible master', wrote Robin Sharma, a monk who was also a dude.
So, instead of unconsciously feeding in your fears and making up scary senarios, your mind can get busy figuring out how to serve you with what you want to create.
When you dismantle the hierarcy of mind over body to create a new one:
The authority of what is true for you, what you need and desire, your worthiness, what you love, what is good for you, what you want to create that lives truth IN YOUR BODY.
Because you FEEL yourself.
Being feelable to yourself engages your own heart to love and care for yourself.
Being feelable to others engages their hearts to love you and care for you.
