When I was a child, I wanted a bottle like Jeannie’s in I Dream of Jeannie.
It was a feminine paradise: Her round velvet couch. Her candles and incense.
Her piles of colorful pillows.
All that hot pink and passionate purple.
A beautiful inner world of pleasure, sensuality and renewal.
The embodiment and source of her feminine magic creational powers.
Jeannie's bottle was the Temple of HER. A sanctuary where she charged up her MAGIC and then brought it into the world to CREATE.
I see Jeannie as a feminine genius.
She cherished her magic.
She was a masterful creator on her own terms.
She used her magic to serve, but she chose how she used it- and it was never in the way she was told to.
Her magic appeared unpredictable and chaotic, her intuition contrasted comedically
with the linear logic of her man/master. But she trusted it and didn’t dumb it down for anyone.
She was her own "master'.
I wonder if the producers of the show knew they had created a female character with Barbie dolls looks who was subversive for the times.
Do you have a Jeannie bottle?
A place where you find pleasure, sensuality, and renewal?
Where you quiet the demands of the world so you can hear the voice of you soul?
Where your find your inspiration to create what you love?
Where you charge up your magic?
Maybe it’s a place in your home.
A yoga mat, or an alter.
Maybe it’s your bicycle or your bathtub.
Or nature, or your kitchen, or easel.
Maybe it's solitude, silence and stillness.
But please, create your own Jeannie bottle,
your sanctuary, your Temple of YOU.
You will find your creational magic there: Your pleasure, desire and your inspiration to create what you love.
